Scripture provides evidence for both perspectives on this profound question, a topic that Christopher wrestled with for many years. His extensive research into Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) has guided him to his current position that Jesus and God exist as two distinct entities within the spiritual realm. Here are his compiled notes addressing both sides of this age-old debate.

Jesus as God

John 1:1, 14 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” This passage is often cited to affirm Jesus’ divinity, identifying Him as the Word (Logos) who was both with God and was God, becoming flesh.

Colossians 2:9 – “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form…” This emphasizes the belief in Jesus as the embodiment of the divine.

Hebrews 1:8 – “But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever…'” Here, the Father refers to the Son as God, which supports the interpretation of Jesus’ divinity.

Thomas’ declaration in John 20:28 – “Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!'” After seeing the resurrected Jesus, Thomas addresses Him as “My Lord and my God,” which is seen as a recognition of Jesus’ divine nature.

Philippians 2:5-6 – “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage…” This passage is seen as affirming Jesus’ divine nature and His pre-existence as God before His incarnation.

Titus 2:13 – “While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Jesus is referred to as “our great God and Savior,” highlighting His divinity.

Revelation 1:17-18 – “When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead. Then He placed His right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.'”Jesus identifies Himself with titles often associated with God, emphasizing His authority over life and death.

John 10:30 – “I and the Father are one.” This statement by Jesus is interpreted as a claim to unity with God, not just in purpose, but in essence.

Jesus’ Unique Relationship with God

Mark 10:18 – “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.” Jesus distinguishes Himself from God, which some interpret as a denial of His own divinity.

John 14:28 – “The Father is greater than I.” This statement is seen as indicative of a distinction between Jesus and God, suggesting a subordinate relationship.

1 Corinthians 15:28 – “When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.” This passage describes a future time when Jesus will be subject to God, suggesting a distinction in their roles and authority.

John 17:3 – “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” In His prayer, Jesus refers to the Father as “the only true God” and distinguishes Himself as the one whom God has sent, which some interpret as highlighting a distinction between Jesus and God.

Matthew 24:36 – “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” This verse is often cited to show that Jesus, in His earthly ministry, did not possess omniscience, a characteristic of God, indicating a distinction between Jesus and the Father.

Mark 12:29 – Jesus answered, “The most important one is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.'” Jesus affirms the Jewish Shema, emphasizing the oneness of God, which some interpret as a reinforcement of monotheistic belief without explicitly equating Himself as being God.

Acts 2:22 – “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.” Peter describes Jesus as a man through whom God worked, highlighting Jesus’ role as God’s chosen instrument rather than identifying Him directly as God.

1 Corinthians 8:6 – “Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” This passage distinguishes between one God, the Father, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, suggesting a functional distinction within the unity of their work in creation and salvation.

We have to remember In order for Jesus to fulfill his purpose he had to become a human so as a human here In flesh the father was greater then him for his purpose here on earth. I believe no matter what scripture we look at it is beyond our understanding but I think both sides can argue both points but the whole of it is summed up in Jesus was given authority to judge and save which therefore makes him equal to God the father. Regardless if he always had that power he does now and that’s what’s important. I think it’s clear Jesus is who we are to worship. Us bringing glory to Christ brings glory to the father so their both receiving the same glory and God wouldn’t be willing to share his glory with someone less than . Just my opinion.

  2. Ok, I haven’t really read it all, skimmed over and I don’t want to devalue, but just wanna share a little Sunday school thing I still remember from being a little kid. So, it’s real simple and silly but very true in its simplicity. So, God is like an egg. Egg white, egg shell, and egg yolk. All completely different parts of the egg, but all still egg. It’s simple and silly, and again, I learned in Sunday school as a kid but it still sticks with me to this day. Hope this helps. ❤️

It is without doubt, that we serve a Triune God, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. It is a Mystery. So when you Look at Jesus, He is the Same as the Father. Jesus also said that God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. I must admit it can be difficult for some to understand. I guess the easiest way to explain it would be All 3 are the Very Same. But Each have different roles. If that makes sense.
The Holy Spirit lives in each believer. Where Jesus Christ is seated at the Right Hand of God. This is what I Believe God’s Word Says.

    1. It’s not a mystery it’s actually an AntiChrist doctrine established by the Roman Catholic church in 325 ad, read the scripture which make it impossible for the 3 to be the same entity and you’ll see the deception
      John 5:36-47, Mark 3:28-29, 1 John 2:22, 1 John 4, Matthew 7:21-23

  4. There are also instances of Jesus receiving worship. Which he would only be able to do of he were God. He fulfils the laws and they are clear that God alone can be worshipped. He could only fulfil the AND receive worship if he is God.
The Godhead example in the Bible is so simple and yet explains it so well. Jesus is the living word of God carried on the spirit or breath of God.
Your own words are your thoughts and belong to you and are carried on your breath. So all three are separate and yet all you. Yet the word and breath are only possible by your mind and who you are. Without you – they wouldn’t exist alone in a vacuum. A word needs breath and a mind. Breath can’t carry a thought they need words and so on. All need each other. It’s easy to try and overcomplicated it. But that’s biblical and very simple.

    1. How do you explain the scripture which make it impossible? John 5:36-47, Mark 3:28-29, 1 John 2:22, 1 John 4, Matthew 7:21-23
The attributes of the AntiChrist spirit are as follows:
Deny the Father AND the Son
Deny Jesus came in the flesh
      Deny Jesus is the Messiah

Some Versions of the trinity teach that
Jesus is God, aka the father is the son which denies them both
God came in the flesh, rather than Jesus
      God is the Messiah

This is that spirit of AntiChrist that we are to test as spoken about in 1 John

      1. The argument has been ongoing for centuries. There are also verses that show the divinity of Christ. Like the statement such as John 8:58 where Jesus says “before Abraham was I am” which was a reference to the old testament and burning bush- which was heretical to the Jews as they saw that as him claiming to be God. So the dilemma will always be that there are both statements that show humanity and others that show divinity. Which is why I go back to John 1 and the reference to Genesis. That Jesus is the Word of God – the creative all powerful word, carried on the breath or spirit of God. Because to me that makes some kind of sense. When I cannot understand God any other way. Because I am just a human and really know very little.
People find so many ways to try and understand – like the whole kenosis theory. Which for most Christian apologists is heretical. Not because of Constantine, but because the clergy were all arguing over it and did after him also. We can all have an opinion but eventually we will all end up om the same page. Eventually every knee will bow and every tongue confess.

      2. There are many scriptures that clearly show that Jesus is not GOD Almighty but for now I will say that 1 Corinthians 15; 24-28 show that Jesus is in subjection to His Father even at the end of the thousand year rein when all enemy’s even death have been brought to nothing he ( KING JESUS ) will subject himself to his GOD and father so that GOD will be all things to everyone. This scripture shows that God subjected all things under his feet with the exception of God himself.( virs. 27 ) And at the end when He hands over the Kingdom to his (God and Father) he is still in subjection to his father who gave him the assignment to begin with. There is no shame at all in being the second highest person in the universe and he is still our KING but we must worship in truth. ( John 4; 22-24} Jesus always gave the honor and worship to the one who sent him ( his heavenly father ) and even a thousand plus years from now he will still do the same. JOHN 17; 4-8 .

  5.
