1. Icom 705 (Mobile Rig) – LINK

The Icom IC-705 receiver is VERY sensitive, you can hear things that you will not hear on any other radio. Its my Top Choice for Portable, All-Mode Communications. This transceiver excels in both 2 meters for local line-of-sight communications and all HF bands for global communications through atmospheric reflection. While some may view its 10-watt output as a limitation for worldwide communication, my experience says otherwise. I’ve successfully connected with operators around the globe using this radio. The secret to effective ham radio operation lies in the antenna system. With the right antenna placement and tuning, you can achieve global reach, even on low power. Plus, the convenience of battery operation makes the IC-705 unbeatable for mobile use.

2. Icom 7610 (Base Station) – LINK

This is the radio that is on in the background of our show. The ICOM 7610 is a high-performance GLOBAL comms transceiver that brings advanced capabilities and is a BEAST! Boasting 100 watts & dual receivers, the IC-7610 allows simultaneous reception on different bands, enhancing its versatility for contests and DXing. Its powerful RF direct sampling system ensures exceptional signal clarity and accuracy by converting RF signals directly to digital, bypassing traditional superheterodyne pathways. The transceiver features a large, intuitive touch screen interface for easy operation, and its real-time spectrum scope and waterfall display provide a detailed visual representation of the signal environment, aiding in efficient signal search and management.

Hope this helps everyone!

I am looking for the videos or info on ham radios….I’m new at it, know nothing, but feel, if SHTF, I want to know what’s going on….so I need something pretty basic really I guess….I can’t afford much, on fixed income.
Please help me figure out what I need and where to get it….time, of course, is of the essence
